About

Stu Anderson MPhil MBA

Stu Anderson is a Cornwall based artist specialising in paintings and sketches of travels and observing life. He trained at South Devon College Art School under renown Cornish abstract artist John Chambers before embarking on a career in business taking him over the UK and the world. A devoted rugby player, whilst studying in Torquay, he played for Torquay Athletic RFC. He also went on to play for Tavistock RFC in Devon and Medicals RFC in Newcastle Upon Tyne whilst living in the North East for 20 years, before moving back to the Tamar Valley.

Professionally, as a Management Consultant he has worked across many industries including theatre and entertainment and economic development. He worked as a ‘Bouncer’ in Newcastle Nightclubs for many years to make ends meet as a student, as well as in Chamonix, France. This included many happy years in the live music industry as local and road crew. The ‘good times’ inspire much of the work- nightlife, sitting having a beer, travelling….

His interests lie in Impressionism, Expressionism and working quickly, with much of the work looking based on ethnographic study of nightlife. Equally, a love of the sea naturally comes from living in Cornwall. Much of the work is ‘impasto’ in oil on canvas of landscapes and seascapes of Devon and Cornwall. He has undertaken numerous trips to Europe and the USA to sketch, draw and paint.

As well as training in a variety of disciplines including fine art and sculpture, he also holds an MBA and MPhil from Northumbria and Newcastle Universities respectively and a PG Cert in Research Methods. He is also professionally qualified in Adobe Premier Pro, PhotoShop and Illustrator.

He is currently studying for an MA in Fine Art at Falmouth University.
